Home Care Instructions: Pediatric Fillings
Children’s teeth have a different structure when compared to adult teeth and can be more prone to damage. It is possible for bonded-tooth restorations on children to 'loosen up' while the child eats.
To increase the longevity of these fillings and avoid possible chipping, cracking, or loosening, here is some home care advice:
- Please brush your child's teeth with circular movements normally for 1 min top/bottom, behind the teeth as well as in front.
- Avoid very sticky, chewy or gooey foods which may dislodge the fillings. Candies such as gum, taffy, fruit roll ups, gummy bears… the list goes!
- AVOID very Hard and Crunchy foods - such as chips, pop-corn kernels, tough meats, nuts, and hard candies which can create a lot of stress for these fillings.
I realize you may not be able to be there 100% of the time to watch and guide your child's eating habits, but following the above tips can go a long way in protecting your child’s fillings and dental health.
We’d like to partner with you to maintain your child’s oral health, so:
A complimentary 3 month maintenance appointment has been scheduled in order to maintain your child’s filling(s) health.
I guarantee my fillings for 1 year after the date of initial placement. If we find that the filling(s) is loose or missing. I will replace it (that day, if scheduling allows) at no additional charge to you.
